This lunation hopes that we step into the highest frequency of our personal Dharma. Sagittarius is the seeker of the zodiac, a fire sign that pushes us to look beyond the horizon for deep, philosophical truths. But this moon reminds us that truth is more than a thought—it is a physical experience. To find it, we must return to our wild senses and experience Rasa.

In Ayurveda, Rasa is the word for taste. It simultaneously translates to juice, sap, essence, and emotion. It is the literal fluid of life. To taste the world is to consume it, to break down the boundaries between the landscape and the self.

Under this luminous blue sky, we look at how two drastically different ecosystems —the wet, abundant canopy of the Pacific Northwest and the stark, wind-swept gravel of the Mojave Desert—express the exact same elemental truth through the tongue.

Choosing to taste these two opposite worlds, to seek out its complex flavors even when the landscape feels vast or heavy, is a radical act of cosmic wonder. It is resistance against the tastelessness of despair.

I. EXPERIENCE ◜ The Dual Landscape

Imagine your consciousness splitting to inhabit two parallel realms at once. On one side, you are walking through a moss-draped rainforest in the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by towering evergreens and the scent of damp, ancient soil. On the other side, you are standing in a sandy desert wash in the Mojave, where the intense heat waves dance over sun-baked boulders.

Close your eyes and shift your entire awareness to the tip of your tongue, jihva-agre.

In the forest, you reach out and harvest a bright, lime-green spruce tip. You place it on your tongue and press. An immediate explosion of sour, citrusy, and resinous life floods your mouth, sharpening your mind like a lightning bolt. Simultaneously, in the desert, you find a golden honey mesquite pod. You chew it slowly, welcoming a deep, nutty sweetness that coats your throat and instantly grounds your nervous system.

Feel the contrast. The earth is speaking to you in two entirely different dialects, yet both are offering you the exact same medicine: the juice of survival.

II. OBSERVE ◜ The Sacred Sap

In the Taittiriya Upanishad, the ancient sages declared: रसो वै सः । रसँ ह्येवायं लब्ध्वाऽऽनन्दी भवति ॥ (Raso vai sah. Rasam hy evayam labdhva’nandi bhavati.) — “Truly, the Divine is Rasa, the ultimate juice and flavor of life. Only by tasting this sacred essence does one become filled with bliss.”

Observe the connectivity between the flavors of the world and the movement of life force within your own body.

• The Sensation ◜ Notice how a single drop of flavor instantly alters your emotional state. A sour note awakens; a sweet note stabilizes.

• The Elements ◜ Recognize that you cannot perceive taste without the water element. Your tongue is the altar where dry earth is transformed into living liquid.

• The Wonder ◜ Acknowledge that by consciously tasting the world around you, you are digesting the divine essence of nature itself. Despair cannot exist where awe is being actively consumed.

Place the palms of your hands gently over your throat and jaw, softening the muscles of your mouth. Let your tongue rest heavily on the floor of your mouth.

• Do your Breathwork Loop

• Inhale the Essence ◜ filling your system with the expansive, truth-seeking fire of the Sagittarius Moon.

• Exhale the Stagnation ◜ letting go of anything that has made your experience of life feel dry, numb, or tasteless.

Carry the juice of this Blue Moon with you as you walk your path. You are nourished, you are expansive, and you are vibrating with the true flavor of your Dharma.

Let’s go on a wild foraging date with the six tastes (Shad Rasa) of Ayurveda.

I’m foraging in both of my homes, the Pacific Northwest, and the Mojave Desert.

Don’t have a backyard in an elfin forest or a majestic desert? The specific wild plants we’re meeting up with can be substituted with simple items from your kitchen to experience the same somatic activation.

1. Awakening the Sweet taste-Madhura (मधुर) (the combined elements of Earth + Water)

• The Wild Specimen: Honey Mesquite Pods (Mojave) or Elderflower Blossoms (PNW).

• The Kitchen Substitute: A spoonful of raw, local honey or a single dried date.

• The Taste Ritual: Place a small amount on the center of your tongue. Do not swallow immediately. Let it dissolve slowly, focusing on how the heavy, grounding quality of sweetness immediately calms the mind and brings a sense of safety to your core.

  2. Igniting the Sour taste- Amla (आमलकी) (the combined elements of Earth + Fire)

  

  • The Wild Specimen: Redwood Sorrel (PNW) or Wild Desert Rhubarb (Mojave).

  • The Kitchen Substitute: A single wedge of fresh lemon or lime.

  • The Taste Ritual: Bite directly into it. Notice the instant contraction at the back of your jaw and the immediate rush of saliva (Bodhaka Kapha). Feel how this sharp, bright taste cuts through mental fog, clearing away sadness and awakening your inner fire.

    3. Rooting the Salty- Lavana (the combined elements of Water + Fire)

The New Moon arrives on Saturday, May 16, 2026, resting in the fertile, steady sign of Taurus. This is the peak of the earth’s sensory expression, and Taurus asks us to use our eyes to anchor our spirits in the material world. After moving through the sacred scents of the soil and the songs of the wind, we now awaken the Eye of the Artisan. This moon invites us to see the hidden pigment in the stone and to practice Cosmic Wonder as a form of resistance against the shadows of despair.

Driving along the ancient stretch of Route 66 toward Death Valley, the desert plays with our perception. Gaze across the salt flats, where the heat creates a shimmering lake in the distance—a sapphire oasis cradled by the sun. Though it is a mirage, its beauty is a physical reality in the mind. In the desert, we learn that sight is an act of interpretation. To choose to see wonder in a landscape that others call empty is a revolutionary act.

When I look at the gray, dusty mountains, my eyes are trained to find the palette: the deep vibration of Red Jasper, the earthy gold of Yellow Ochre, and the mossy greens of Dendritic Agate. To spot these from miles away is a deep, somatic connection. My sight is the bridge that leads me to the pigments I mill and the stones I share. This focus is my anchor; it is how I stay present and protective of the world I love.

Take three deep breaths, feeling the space behind your eyes soften and widen.

I. EXPERIENCE ◜ The Long View

Imagine you are standing on the edge of a vast desert basin. The sun is bright, but your gaze is steady. Look out toward the horizon where the salt flats shimmer. Allow yourself to enjoy the beauty of the mirage. Simply witness the play of light.

Now, shift your focus to the mountains. Instead of seeing a wall of gray, let your eyes begin to digest the landscape. Look for the anomalies. Spot the streak of iron-red jasper high on a ridge. See the soft yellow of an ochre vein. Feel the physical sensation in your eyes as they move from the panoramic view to the laser-focus of the seeker. You are recognizing the earth’s hidden treasures, and in that recognition, despair has no room to grow.

II. OBSERVE ◜ Alochaka Pitta and the Fire of Sight

The eyes are the home of Alochaka Pitta. In Ayurveda, this is the fire that transforms light into image and experience into wisdom. With the energetics of the Taurus new moon, this fire is steady and grounded. We use the cooling grace of Rose to keep our vision clear and our heart-balanced against the late spring warmth.

Observe the connectivity between the light of the sun and the light within your own eyes.

• The Gaze ◜ Keep your eyes open but relaxed. Let the colors of the world flow into you.

• The Clarity ◜ Feel the heat of your focus. If your eyes feel strained from the searching, imagine a cool, pink mist of rose water bathing your sight.

• The Wonder ◜ Acknowledge that your sight is a tool of resistance. By focusing on the beauty of the jasper and the agate, you are choosing a frequency of awe over a frequency of lack.

  Four Post-Meditation Rituals

  1. The Cooling Mist: Rose Hydrosol Eye Bath

  To balance the Pitta fire of the summer sun, use the medicine of the Rose.

• The Ritual: Keep a bottle of organic Rose Hydrosol in a cool place. Throughout the day, spray the mist over your face and gently over your open eyes. Feel the immediate cooling effect on the Alochaka Pitta. It cleanses the physical eyes and refreshes the inner eye, allowing for more vivid and truthful perception.

  2. The Prayer of Visual Gratitude: ॐ सूर्यो मे चक्षुर्विशतु

  To honor your sight, we use a traditional Vedic approach to eye health and gratitude.

• The Prayer: I give thanks for the light that enters my eyes. I give thanks for the nerves that carry the world to my brain. I give thanks for the soul that interprets beauty as resistance.

• The Mantra: ॐ सूर्यो मे चक्षुर्विशतु (Om Suryo Me Chakshur-vishatu) — May the Sun enter my eyes with its divine light. Repeat this while facing the morning sun with eyes closed to nourish the solar energy within your vision.

  3. The Palette Walk

  Once this week, go for a walk with the specific intention of rock hounding with your eyes. Try to spot five distinct mineral colors in your environment—the rust of a gate, the ochre of a leaf, the slate of the sidewalk. Recognize these as the literal pigments of your reality.

  

  4. The Mirror of Vision

  Before the New Moon sets, look into a mirror and gaze deeply into your own eyes. Look past the color and the shape, down into the spark of light in the center. Recognize that this is the same fire that lives in the sun and the red jasper. Meet with your own vision and discuss its expansion.

The Full Moon arrives on Friday, May 1, 2026, resting in the deep, velvet waters of Scorpio. This moon rises at the peak of Beltane—the ancient festival of fire and fertility—and comes just as I celebrate my own solar return on the eve of May Day. This is a moment of high magic, where the wildness of the earth returns in full bloom. It is a potent time to recognize your personal Dharma, your soul’s purpose, as you navigate the sacred loop between the space you inhabit and the truth you speak.

In the high desert, silence is a vast, textured canvas. When the winds move across the mesa, they carry a specific frequency as they comb through the needles of a Salt Cedar or the soft pink petals of a Desert Willow’s flowers. To sit beneath these trees is to be bathed in a wild, sonic medicine. It is an invitation to experience the invisible architecture of the world: Akasha.

In Ayurveda, Akasha (the element of space, or aether) is the subtlest element—the mother of all others. It is the container for all that exists, and its primary quality is sound. When we listen to the wind, we are experiencing the vibration of space itself.

Aether is the message of the medium for source love. It is where all EMFs arise and return. The primary principle of the aether element, or quintessence, is that of connection; a connection between the oneness of above and the illusion of polarity below. The Aries New Moon arrives on Friday, April 17, 2026, offering a stark, fertile silence for new beginnings. This is the moment where the fire of the sun and the void of the moon meet, creating a potent space for planting seeds—not just in the soil, but within the spirit. We move away from the heat of action and settle into the quiet, dark potential of the ground. We look for the source of life not in the light, but in the scent.

Sugandha (सुगंध) is a Sanskrit term meaning "fragrance," "aroma," or "pleasant smell," deeply rooted in Indian culture as a symbol of pure, natural aroma and, often, spiritual warmth. It is the recognition that the earth is constantly breathing out its own aromatic essence to soothe our tired spirits when you least expect it. Whether it is the damp musk of a mushroom, the ancient resin of a tree, or the metallic sweetness of rain on sand, these scents are the earth’s way of communicating its vitality. They are a reminder that no matter where you go in the world, the perfume of the earth is there to welcome you back to your senses.

In the middle of the desert, where the landscape often feels vast and perhaps a bit lonely, there is a specific magic that happens when you lower yourself. When you lie low, pressed against the dry sand and the grit, the distance that often creates a sense of depression or displacement begins to shrink. Recently, as the water met the soil, the perfume of the earth rose up to meet me. It was an immediate reclamation. The scent acted as a tether, pulling me back from a displaced state and anchoring me into the present moment.

Let’s settle in to start our somatic guided meditation on the sacred perfume. Take three deep, slow breaths. Feel your weight shifting toward the floor.

I. EXPERIENCE ◜ The Earth’s Perfume

Imagine you are lying down in the high desert. The sun is hidden, and the air is cool. You are so low that your cheek is almost touching the ground. You can see the individual grains of sand and the tiny, resilient botanicals that hug the earth. The silence is not empty; it is expectant.

As you lie here, notice the shift. The vastness of the horizon is no longer overwhelming because you are connected to the intimacy of the soil. A light moisture begins to settle, and the scent rises. This is Sughandha. It is the smell of survival, of life continuing beneath the surface. Let the fragrance enter your lungs and travel directly to the center of your chest. Feel the displacement dissolve. You are not floating; you are held. You are not a stranger to this land; you are an extension of its breath.

II. OBSERVE ◜ The Olfactory Anchor

Sit up slowly, remaining close to the earth as the New Moon takes its place in the sky. The scent of the earth carries the frequency of the root, Muladhara chakra, which is our foundation and our sense of belonging. While the Aries season can often feel like a frantic push forward, this fragrance is our anchor. It reminds us that growth begins in the dark, fragrant depths of the soil.

Observe the connectivity between the scent of the world and the stillness within your own body.

• The Breath ◜ Close your eyes and inhale deeply. Even if you are indoors, imagine the scent of the desert soil or the damp forest floor.

• The Presence ◜ Let the aroma fill your mind until the distance between you and your surroundings disappears.

• The Grounding ◜ As you breathe, feel any feelings of being displaced or depressed begin to stabilize. The earth’s perfume is a constant; it is the original medicine for the spirit.

Place your hands on the ground beside you, or on your knees if you are sitting. Close your eyes and visualize your own energy as a deep, dark root reaching down.

• Do your Breathwork Loop.

• Inhale Sughandha ◜ filling the root center with the sacred perfume of the earth.

• Exhale The Distance ◜ releasing the feeling of being separate or lost.

III. SHARE ◜ The Aromatic Resonance

Share by recognizing that your sense of smell is a gateway to belonging. To inhale the perfume of the earth is to accept your place in the natural world.

Give thanks to the soil for its constant, fragrant presence. You are not just a visitor on this planet; you are a participant in its breath. Carry the scent of the earth with you as you move into this new cycle. You are grounded, you are present, and you are perfumed with the essence of life.

Close your practice by bowing your head to the ground, acknowledging the sacred scent that lives in every corner of the world.

Four Post-Meditation Rituals

1. The Vibration of Scent: Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra

To further anchor the medicine of Sughandha, we practice chanting the Shiva mantra, which honors the Three-Eyed One who is fragrant and nourishes all life. This mantra is a tool for liberation—helping us drop our bondages just as a ripe fruit falls effortlessly from the vine.

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् | उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात् ||

Aum Tryambakam yajaamahe sugandhim pushtivardhanam | Urvaarukamiva bandhanaan-mrityormuksheeya maamritaat ||

The Meaning: We worship the three-eyed One, who is fragrant and who nourishes all. Like the fruit falls off from the bondage of the stem, may we be liberated from death, from mortality.

2. The Earth Infusion (Tea)

If you have plants in your area that are subtle and nutritive—like dried nettle, clover, or rosehips—create a tea. Place the herbs in a jar and pour warm water over them. As they steep, imagine the water pulling the scent and the mineral strength of the earth into the liquid. Drink it slowly to nourish your bones and your roots.

3. The Olfactory Reset (Perfume)

Find a plant in your immediate ecosystem that carries a strong, volatile oil—sagebrush, pine needles, or a citrus leaf. Harvest a small piece and crush it between your palms. Cup your hands over your nose and take three deep breaths. Use this Sughandha throughout the week whenever you feel the need to pull yourself out of a distant or displaced state.

4. The Low Gaze

Once this week, go outside and literally get low. Spend five minutes looking at the world from the perspective of the soil. Smell the ground up close. Notice how the perspective of the earth changes your energy. Recognize that the perfume of the world is a foundational and nourishing realignment of the spirit, always available to you.

Thousands upon thousands of bright orange California poppies are blooming, a sudden and stunning gift that changes everything. In an eye-blink, you are filled with the possibility of unexpected joy, and the gloom that felt so heavy begins to dissolve into the bright orange-golds of the meadow.

Beauty is a form of healing that the world offers us when we least expect it. And our Libra moon is here to offer us this in the nick of time.

Imagine you have pulled your car to the shoulder of a quiet highway. There is no one else around. The silence is vast and absolute. You can’t believe the expansive meadow you’ve stumbled upon, thousands upon thousands of California Poppies—Eschscholzia californica—are blooming in a dense, vibrant carpet—a concentrated, electric orange— for as far as you can focus your eyes. The orange is so saturated it feels humming, vibrating against the dusty greens and browns of the desert mountain. These flowers are a surprise, a sudden gift of spontaneous joy in a landscape that seemed depressing only a moment ago.

The California Poppy—Eschscholzia californica—is a master of timing. It waits for the exact convergence of light and moisture to reveal its brilliance. As you step toward the meadow, feel the potential for beauty to emerge even when it feels unattainable. The orange of the petals is a direct mirror to the sacral chakra—the center of our creative flow and our specific way of knowing we are in step with the energy of the earth.

As the sun begins to dip and the moon prepares to rise, the light catches the silk of the petals. You feel an immediate shift in your chest. The possibility of beauty has returned. Even when the world feels dark, this light-filled meadow exists. It is a reminder that potential is always coiled just beneath the surface, waiting for the right shift in the wind to express itself as joy.

II. OBSERVE ◜ The Sacral Flame

Sit among the thousands of poppies as the moon begins its ascent. These electric orange flowers carry the visual frequency of sacral energy, Swadhistana chakra, which is rooted in the fluidity and flexibility of water. They are the antidote to the Aries fire currently stationed in the heavens. While the world is currently heavy with flames, we perceive these flowers as a balancing element rather than a burning one.

In honor of the planetary heat, we’ll do a traditional Ayurvedic ceremony—Trataka, using the poppy as our focal point. Tratak (candle gazing) meditation improves focus, sharpens eyesight, and induces deep mental calmness by fixing the gaze on a single point. This yogic technique enhances memory, reduces insomnia and anxiety, strengthens eye muscles, and balances the nervous system while stimulating the Ajna chakra (third eye) for improved intuition.

Observe the connectivity between the orange light of the petals and the light within your own body.

• The Gaze ◜ Choose one single poppy. Treat it as if it were the flame of a sacred candle.

• The Focus ◜ Keep your eyes soft but steady on the center of the flower. Let the vibrant orange fill your field of vision until the rest of the world blurs away.

• The Balance ◜ As you gaze, feel the fire element in your body—the heat of anger, or the friction of the Aries season—begin to calm and stabilize. The poppy absorbs the excess heat and returns it to you as balanced, creative light.

  

  Place your hands over your heart, feeling the warmth of your palms through your clothes. Close your eyes and visualize your heart center. Imagine it as a tightly wound green bud, slowly beginning to unfurl, petal by petal, until it is a wide, bright orange California poppy blooming in the center of your chest.

1. The Color Bath

To stay connected to the sacral resonance of this moon, incorporate something orange into your space tomorrow—a piece of fruit, a citrine stone, or even a swatch of silk. Let this be a visual anchor to the field you found on the highway.

2. The Gaze of Peace

If you feel the wounded energy of the world rising in your thoughts this week, find a bright point of light or a flower and practice the Trataka gaze for three minutes. Let the external beauty steady your internal rhythm.

3. The Mirror of Beauty

Before the Libra moon sets, look into a mirror and practice the same soft-gazing technique you used with the poppy. See your own face as a part of the landscape—as a place where beauty is blooming despite the struggle. Recognize the condensed light that lives inside you. Meet with it to discuss its expansion. The New Moon in Pisces arrives just at the opening of this year’s Spring Equinox, 3/18/26.

As the final lunar cycle of the astrological year, this is the great cosmic dissolution. We are drifting through the twelfth house—the ocean of the spirit— where everything that was solid throughout the year begins to soften and return to source.

In the transition to Kapha season at the dawn of Spring Equinox, we are witnessing the sacred marriage of Earth and Water. As the mountain snow melts into the granitic sand, we recognize that our own bodies, nearly three-quarters water, are condensed light. To make contact with the stream is a spiritual homecoming.

This is a time for the path of intuition. We are moving away from the analytical and the processed, choosing instead to honor the innate wisdom that flows beneath the surface of our thoughts.

Take three cleansing, deep breaths. Close the door on the static of the world and step into a new landscape.

I. EXPERIENCE ◜ The Vital Stream

Imagine walking through a landscape high in the warm mountains, of ancient stone and thin, sharp air. Greet the silver-green presence of Great Grandmother Sage- Artemisia tridentata, named for Greek Goddess Artemis.

As you pass, Her aromatic camphor oils are your basis of connectivity today—inhale them to clear the mental channels.

As you move through a screen of low-hanging Coulter pine branches, the terrain opens.

Before you lies a hidden bowl of massive smooth boulders. A surprise stream tumbles over a high ledge, falling in a silver ribbon into a clear deep pool. This is your hidden oasis.

Observe the wild witnesses here. A Steller’s Jay watches from a nearby pine branch, its deep blue feathers a shock against the granite. In the shadows of the boulders, a Western Toad sits perfectly still, its golden eyes reflecting the water’s surface. High above, a Red-tailed Hawk circles the thermal vents of the canyon.

Remove your shoes. Feel the rough granite beneath your soles before stepping into the flow. The cold is a sudden electric shock—a clear no to the stagnation of winter and a resonant yes to the vitality of spring.

II. OBSERVE ◜ Condensed Light and Intuition

Sit on a low rock with your feet submerged. Reach down and touch the surface with your fingers, gently tracing the paths of sunlight that dance over the ripples. Pick up a stone from the shallow bed and hold it under the water, watching it glint and sparkle.

Observe the connectivity between the light, the water, and yourself. If water is condensed light, then you are a walking vessel of radiance.

In this quiet moment, lean into your intuition. Do not analyze. Do not process. Simply feel the water as a foundational healing relationship. Honor the intuitive pulls—the small nudges and gut feelings—as your greatest path to wisdom. Your intelligence is not found in the thinking, but in the flowing.

Feel the wave of resonance moving through your bones. Connect this external stream to your internal fluids. Observe any winter fatigue without judgment, seeing it as a sediment that the light-filled water is now carrying away.

Recognize that you are not just watching the water—you are a part of its eternal return. Re-commit to following your own intuition, the quietest and most powerful current of all.

The Post-Meditation Rituals

1. The Basin Soak

To honor the water that heals all, do a cool water ritual at home. Submerge your feet in a basin of cool water, perhaps adding a few fresh leaves of sagebrush or a piece of granite. As you soak, visualize your body as a vessel of light, letting any opacity or heaviness dissolve into the water.

2. Wordless Witnessing

Find a small smooth stone or a piece of bark. Using a bit of water or the resin from a pine tree, practice five minutes of asemic writing. Write your formless shapes and symbols onto the surface, sharing your intuitive, non-analytical language with the mountain.

The Full Moon Total Lunar Eclipse, the last of this season’s eclipse portals, makes her presence known 3/03/2026, at 3:33 AM PST. While swimming through the viscid tides of this psychic Piscean retrograde portal, we find we are ready for the discerning descent drawn down by the beam of Virgo’s full blood moon. Wordlessly, we call her in.

This is a time of deep earth discernment (Virgo) meeting original water intelligence (Pisces). We are moving beyond linear systems and into the primordial language of the land and sea.

As the shadow of the Earth crosses the face of the Moon—that Child of Earth born from a wave of resonance—by an unimaginable impact of some kind— we bow toward the illumination and its humble shape.

In late winter, transitioning into Kapha (the elements of Earth + Water) season, let’s embody the vast mineral floor of the ocean to find our stability. Mirroring the basalt and granite layers of our own internal skeletal structure. Re-framing our emotions as friends we want to swim with, rather than fight against.

As we enter this Eclipse portal, find a safe corner, choosing a spot with the precision and discernment of a Virgo scientist, where you can feel the gravity of the Earth. Early in the Year of the Fire Horse, now the world is moving fast, but today we choose to flow with our Piscean-inspired native intelligence.

Visualize the young planet Earth—a child of the universe, pulsing with tumultuous molten tides and bare- not a tree, ocean, or human in sight.

Focus your third eye on the full moon- a child born of a wave of resonance, vibrated into space by ancient solar tides. You, too, are a child of earth, and for a few moments, you’re stepping away from modern, tech-heavy linear systems and descending into the cellular intelligence of your original inner landscapes.

Taking three cleansing, deep breaths and closing the door on the static of the world, we begin.

I. EXPERIENCE: Breath As Time

Imagine walking along the rugged cliffs of a coastline, moving from the majestic stone outcroppings toward the shifting edge of the Pacific. Look toward the canyon walls as you descend. Greet the yellow wildflowers and the single, sacred Datura blooming along the cliff’s edge just in time for your arrival. Speak words of love out to them.

As you reach the beach, the Pacific opens before you at one of its lowest tides. Greet Mother Sea. Breathe in the salt air. Exhale as you walk toward the exposed tide pools. Greet the Seastars, the Yellow Jasper, the Seashells, and the Agates as they rest in the midday sun - acknowledging them as the young witnesses of this planet’s early days.

Feel the cold, salty air meet your skin. Notice the pattern of the waves. Like the Earth, you are never disconnected from the water that first shaped you.

Inhale the familiar, but ancient salt air. As you exhale, imagine your breath traveling down into the basalt floor of the Pacific. You’re in an ancient, ancient place. You’re experiencing time before time. Imagine yourself walking back, breath by breath, millions of years, to see this ocean bed being sculpted for the first time—-carved away from the Earth’s molten surface, maybe by the unimaginable height of crashing, rising solar-formed pulls of tides- to create a brand new daughter. Her destiny: to orbit high above our atmosphere. Call her Moon. She has a future as the ruler of the seas below, yet to be born. Connect this external landscape to your internal skeletal structure. Feel the granite-like strength of your bones protecting your heart. Sink deeper into the basalt core of your marrow—the ancient lineage formed in the heat of a young, molten Earth.

II. OBSERVE: The Wave of Resonance

Observe the truth of this moment. You are standing where no one was present to see the first ocean, but you understand immediately: It lives within your cells.

Harness the power of discernment. Observe any modern holograms of illusion that you have been conditioned to follow. Recognize their transience.

Observe your individual unfolding. Like a pattern in an earth-form holding sacred codes, you are being shared, spiraled in a new way.

Feel a wave of resonance moving through your body. Feel yourself as a witness to the Moon Law and the solar tides that created all of it. Notice where you are holding certain waves, and where. Where is the presence of your current wave of emotion? Observe it without judgment or stickiness, as a child of the Earth would see her tides, rolling in, riding out.

Do your Breathwork Loop.

• Inhale Molten Resonance: drawing in the stable qualities of the basalt floor and the Earth element.

• Exhale Tidal Breath: releasing uncertainty, noise, and linear static.

Keep breathing at your own pace until you feel your sense of shift.

III. SHARE: The Rematriation Of Your Emotions

Share by returning these emotions to the wild. Giving your emotions back to earth is an act of direct self-love. You are Earth, Earth is You.

Visualize your thoughts—your entire poetry of yourself—being vibrated into space, just as the Moon was possibly born from some unimaginable resonance or a grand collision. We aren’t sure how. We might never be, and that’s okay. Let your grief and your joy be released, witnessed or absorbed- whatever it needs-and eventually composted by Mother Sea - ready to create a new life form, seashell, nourishing kelp, shining creature.

Recognize that you are an essential part of this planet. Re-commit to following your own intuition, as the plants and animals here do.

Your Sovereignty is found here. You belong to the sea, the trees, and the miraculous generations of earth creatures thriving, and standing resilient— even through life’s continuous crumbling, reshaping, destabilizing, and death.

Close your practice by placing your hand onto your lower belly or chest, feeling the density of ancient time.

The Affirmation- I am anchored by the heavy, stable qualities of Earth, and I flow with the portals of her deepest seas. I am the shore and the ocean floor. Today’s inner work has rebalanced my ecosystem.

The Post-Meditation Rituals

1. The Ocean Floor Soak

Do a warm salt soak to honor the basalt floor of the ocean.

Submerge your hands or feet fully into a salty, warm tub of water.

Visualize the salt drawing out the linear systems of hierarchy-oppression, or violence, and replacing them with the brilliant, creative intelligence of Life Force.

2. Wordless Witnessing

To conclude our practice, we do a 5 to 10-minute ritual of Asemic Writing—the act of writing without the burden of language. This is an Act of Depth. By using lines and symbols that resemble words without conveying specific meaning, we hover in the sacred state between reading and looking.

We are practicing what philosopher Walter Benjamin described as “Zu lesen, was noch nicht geschrieben wurde” (To read what has not yet been written).

We are choosing knowledge as an aesthetic experience over information as a tool of a system. True knowledge is produced through embodiment, made worth living by the beauty of the experience itself. On this beaming Full Moon, we open a somatic doorway into the romance between Earth’s deep stability and Mother Sea’s watery psychic depths. This is our intuition at work.

In Ayurveda, we understand this as the building of the Dhatus—the essential tissues of the body that form our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves. In early Kapha season, this connection to the elements of earth and water, and placing our attention on the nourishment that comes from them, is important for regenerative growth and preparing for the robustness and heat of the upcoming spring and summer. New life is on the way, and the combination of the blood moon and lunar eclipse, and the blend of earthy Virgo and watery Pisces energy, prepares us perfectly for it. We are in the right place.

As Rachel Carson, in her book, The Sea Around Us, observed scientifically and poetically in her vision of our mother sea, we are physically connected to the planet (Earth) and emotionally and psychologically connected to the moon (water).

We are related to the Earth in the structure of our skeletal and muscular tissues, and to the Moon through our perceptions and awareness.

With asemic writing, we are sharing our inner, indescribable abstract language with the wordless intelligence of the planet to celebrate our wholeness. A language of light, a pattern of you. From this practice, we remember that we’re born for love, endurance, sustainability, and resilience. This is our joy.

How to do it:

Find a piece of driftwood, a seashell, or a cast-off branch.

Dip your found tool into ink, water, or a makeshift stain of tea, berry juice, sand, or coffee. Allow yourself to write freely and daringly onto a page or another piece of earth, like a leaf. No thought required.

If you can’t find any tools, do this as a virtual ritual. Under the full moonlight, watch your shadow create shapes and patterns, writing into the air of the Virgo night.

Allow the energy that comes to release from your body naturally- we don’t have to make any sense; we know this resonance internally. You are writing the primordial language of the land.

On eclipses, there is nothing to do but embrace the stillness. Many cultures across the planet honor rest and reflection during the intense energetic shifts that happen.

• Diné (Navajo): In Diné culture, an eclipse is known as Jóhonaa’éí daaztsą́ (the sun has died). It is a highly sacred time of renewal and reverence where people stay inside, remain silent, and do not eat, sleep, or look at the sky. The event is seen as a death and subsequent rebirth of the celestial bodies, requiring a pause in all human activity.

• Hinduism: Beyond the general Ayurvedic health guidelines, traditional Hindu practice involves closing temple doors and stopping all food consumption during an eclipse. It is considered an inauspicious time where the shadow planets Rahu and Ketu are active, necessitating spiritual cleansing and rest.

• Hopi: Similar to the Diné, the Hopi view the eclipse as a time of deep prayer and reflection. It is not treated as a spectacle for entertainment but as a serious cosmic alignment that demands human humility and quietude.

• Ancient Batammaliba (Togo and Benin): In their tradition, an eclipse is a sign that the sun and moon are fighting. The people use this as a prompt to settle their own earthly disputes, coming together in peace to encourage the celestial bodies to do the same.

• Inuit: In some Inuit traditions, an eclipse is seen as the moon and sun visiting one another. People were often advised to stay indoors or keep their heads covered to avoid the potent spiritual energy during this visit.

In this guided somatic meditation, we honor the option to rest, and we choose to internally witness — using analog pathways to reconnect with the self and our community for a quiet nod to an ancient future time. We want to cultivate renewal, with reverence to timeless indigenous practices. As our offering, we give back to the earth what has burned and become our fuel, as the Fire Horse approaches to offer new life in the wake of its flames.

One thing we can do is reduce our necessity for sparkly technology during the eclipse’s presence - even this post is a few days late because we chose to rest during this powerful time. In this week’s practice, we offer an analog experience of stone witnessing—a ritual of honoring our grief.

Instead of turning away or internalizing our trauma, we observe the stones and minerals around us to understand the depth of our emotions. We see the ancient banding and subtle rainbow of color shifts in rocks as a mirror for our own layers of deep knowing and deep grief. The colors of earth, are the shades we share with it in common, when we picture the inner rainbow of the spectrum of our responses. As we return these precious specimens to the earth, we too return ourselves to the mother source and start anew.

EXPERIENCE stone witnessing- OBSERVE the minerals around us- SHARE—the colors of earth are your emotions

Untravel, re-traverse, unclimb, re-walk. An infinite traveling dance. Visiting and re-visiting the places we felt. Layers touching layers, an imprint, a fossil, maybe leave a petroglyph to say, “I WAS HERE.” When we refuse to look away from the truth of ourselves, we become a line in the record of life, we remember you. We are active memories. We become good ancestors.

We see the Fire Horse as an emblem of burning away old ways to start fresh. In my dream the night of February 16, I was walking on a seashore, watching horses encircled in watery flames, unharmed. A deeply potent image of Aquarian and Lunar New Year’s powerful animal presence. I’m grateful to my dream life and an astral connection for showing me what is true. My pure witness is my pure intuition. This is the truth of somatic experiencing. My body knows all. And dreams and their language, are an ancient thread of my existence.

As the poet Audre Lorde (born February 18) teaches us:

The Practice

As the Moon passes before the Sun, the light changes, but we remain grounded in the hollow of the desert wash. Find your seat. Acknowledge the overwhelming speed of the world’s current information. For the next twenty minutes, that speed does not exist here. Here, there is only the slow, analog mineral pulse of the Mojave. Take three cleansing, deep breaths, settling into Earth, and anchoring ourselves there, steady inside the current Aquarian energy of Watery Air. We begin.

I. EXPERIENCE: The Ancient Threshold

We find ourselves in the cool February winter of the Mojave Desert, on a walkabout high in the mountains above the quiet, sparsely populated rural sprawl of the small towns below. Imagine walking toward the Sleeping Fire that rises from the basin floor, near an inactive volcanic crater in the close distance. Feel the heat of the black stone beneath you—stone that was once liquid.

• The Greeting: As you enter the Mineral Arteries (the Rainbow Wash), greet the stones as long-lost relatives. You are walking through a graveyard of stars and a nursery of new intentions.

• Breathe in the Vayu (Air) of the open basin. As you exhale, imagine your nervous system syncing with the many year silence of the nearby volcanic crater.

  

  II. OBSERVE: The Banded Truth

  Observe, pick up, hold a piece of the Rainbow Spine (like Banded Rhyolite in your hands, feeling its cool heat (above).

  • These bands are the rings of time. They show you that beauty is often the result of being pressed and heated by the world.

  • Look at the rainbow stones. Named Jasper, Calcite, Quartz, they are the Stone Witnesses. They have lived in this wash through countless eclipses, remaining unmoved by the temporary shadows.

  III. SHARE: The Rematriation to the Mother

  Share your intentions and your grief by returning these witnesses to the Ephemeral Veins of the wash.

  • Place the stones back into the sand. You are not dropping them; you are rematriating them. You are returning the energy you borrowed back to the Mother.

  • As the stones settle, visualize your sadness and your intentions traveling deep into the Volcanic Core, where they are held by the earth’s ancient, sleeping fire.

  • Your Sovereignty is found in this exchange. You acknowledge that you are a guest in this landscape, along with these ancestors who are alive here - and your joy—and even your grief—are gifts you give back to the earth.

I. The Phone Rematriation

In this moment of technological uncertainty, we choose to return our attention to the primary frequency of the earth.

• Take your phone and place it face down in a dark drawer or a wooden box.

• Visualize the device as a piece of cold, inert basalt. It is no longer a portal to global static; it is simply a stone that has no power over your peace for the next few hours.

• As you close the drawer, recognize this as an act of reclaiming your sovereignty from the digital world.

The Geography of Hope-Mapping Mirrors from the Mojave to the Ravine

On the Leo Full Moon of February 1st, we are somatically existing in two sacred time zones at once. We are traversing on our Fire Horse across the planet to find the Safe Corners of the earth—from the hidden flood washes of Anza Borrego to the misted, snowdrop-filled glens of Ireland. Whether you are navigating the high-sensory heat of a desert bloom or the quiet chill of a winter thaw, these two practices offer a sanctuary for the wounded heart. We practice early to acknowledge and stand in solidarity with the NATIONAL SHUTDOWN and general strike, tomorrow, January 30, in efforts to resist oppression and STOP ICE’s reign of terror in our country.

• Practice 1: The Rebellious Bloom (Leo Full Moon)

A journey into the hidden washes of Anza Borrego. This is an outward, heart-centered practice focused on finding joy as a form of sovereignty in a desolate landscape.

• Practice 2: The Hearth & The Snowdrop (Imbolc/St. Brigid’s Day)

A quiet descent into the misted glens of the north. This is an inward, purifying practice focused on hope in adversity and melting any emotional coldness of past or present sorrows.

We begin: As the Leo Full Moon rises, watch her cast a wide, heart-centered golden light over the desert. Find a comfortable seat. Notice the Vata static in your nervous system—any shivering or scattered thoughts. Let them be. We are traveling to a corner of the world that feels safe because it is unapologetically alive. Breathe in the quiet, cleansing winter air of this place.

I. EXPERIENCE: The Winter Bloom

Imagine stepping out of a long, narrow canyon and stumbling into an impossible sea of color. The desert, usually so sparse and neutral-toned, has been transformed by the memory of summer and autumn rains.

• The Ground: Feel the Prithvi (Earth) beneath your feet. It is speckled with White Desert Evening Primrose—pale, delicate trumpets that open only for the moon.

• The Air: Breathe in the Vayu (Air). It carries the scent of Purple Sand Verbena, creeping low, and astonishingly fragrant across the canyon foothills and dunes.

• The Texture: Reach down and touch the Jasper stones that make up the foothills. Feel the striated textures in dark red, purple, and golden yellow. See the circular spaces and moon crater-like surfaces of the lilac Rhyolite, purple tones that echo the sprawling hues of sand Verbena. These stones are the Skeleton of the Earth, providing a safe, hard backdrop for the softest flowers to bloom.

II. OBSERVE: The Intimacy of Resilience

Observe one specific flower. Get close—so close that your entire field of vision is nothing but petal and pollen.

• Notice how this flower does not wait for a perfect world to bloom. It blooms in the middle of winter, in a land of extremes.

Observe how you relate to this blossom. It is a mirror. Like the flower, you have the genetic memory to find beauty in a wounded world.

• The Somatic Mirror: Observe the sensation in your chest (the Leo heart-center). Is there a small bud of joy there, waiting for enough rain to show itself?

III. SHARE: Reclaiming the Safe Corner

Share your presence with this safe corner of the world. Amid global static and personal trauma, this desert wash is a sanctuary.

• Recognize that Joy is a Rebellious Act. By choosing to immerse yourself in the essence of the bloom, you are refusing to be defined by the desolation.

• Visualize the striated purple and gold of the Jasper stone absorbing your anxieties, leaving you only with the vibrant, light-filled joy of the verbena.

• Return to the fragrance of the Sand Verbena. Its surprisingly strong, floral notes resonate with memory and joy. Bathe in this scent. Remind yourself of a moment you’ve felt free to dance or share something intimate and beautiful with others and the world, unapologetically. You’re a perfume that lasts long after that moment, giving yourself and others an inspiration of a radical act of pleasure. Take up the space and express yourself, as only a surprising desert bloom in the middle of winter can do.

The Crossing: From Desert Fire to Hearth Fire

As we leave the striated jasper of the desert foothills, we follow the Leo Full Moon across the ocean to the green, misted threshold of the Celtic Midwinter. We are moving from the external wildfire of the sun to the internal Sacred Fire of Saint Brigid.

I. EXPERIENCE: The Tending of the Flame Experience the shift in the air—from the dry Vata wind to a damp, cool mist that smells of wet earth and moss. In front of you is a small hearth.

• The Fire: This is the Leo fire turned inward. It is not a wildfire; it is a tended flame. Reach out your hands and feel the Agni (Fire) warming your palms.

• The Practice: Imagine you are one of the nineteen sisters tending Brigid’s eternal flame. With every breath, you are tending to your own rebellious joy. You are protecting the spark of your creativity and Rebellious Joy while the rest of the world is still frozen. Warm your heart with the solidarity of turning inner rage into equitable action. Feel the Leo fire within, turning outwards to bloom in frozen conditions of oppression.

II. OBSERVE: The Snowdrop’s Awakening Observe the ground at the edge of the hearth’s light. Pushing through a thin veil of snow is the Snowdrop. Look closely at its bell-shaped head, bowing toward the earth.

• The Mirror: The Snowdrop is the First Gift of Spring. It is the biological proof that life can bloom while the snow is still on the ground. Observe how it holds its own safe corner in the cold. It doesn’t need a summer sun; it carries its own internal Leo fire to melt the frost around its stem.

III. SHARE: The Vow of Resilience Share your pain with the Snowdrop. Let the cool, white energy of the flower act as a Somatic Balm.

• The Vow: Like Saint Brigid, vow to protect what is small and green within you.

The Sovereignty: Recognize that whether you are a wildflower in Anza Borrego or a snowdrop in an Irish glen, your Sovereignty is the same: the power to bloom exactly where you are, in the middle of a wounded world.

Cleansing Practice: The Saint Brigid’s Smoke & Water Ritual

Before your journaling, use the dried creosote you obtained for your January New Moon soak to bridge these two worlds.

1. The Smoke (Vata/Agni): Ignite your dried creosote bundle. As the smoke rises, visualize it as the perpetual fire of Brigid. Sweep it around your heart space to clear any lethargy or hopelessness.

2. The Water (Jala): If you still have your creosote infusion from the 18th, splash a few drops onto your wrists. Let the Mother of all Medicine meet the Snowdrop’s tiny, but fierce, grace.

3. The Invocation: “By the fire of Leo and the grace of the Snowdrop, I melt what is frozen and tend what is green.”

Create With Earth: The Snowdrop Vibrational Essence

Since we cannot all walk among the snowdrops, we can create a vibrational bridge to their healing energy. This essence is designed to help you surrender what has happened and find the light in this moment.

What You Will Need:

• A small glass bowl of spring water.

• A single white candle (representing the snowdrop’s candle flame bud).

• The Affirmation: “I surrender and release that which has passed”.

The Process:

1. Place the bowl of water under the light of the Leo Full Moon (or on your altar near a window).

2. Light your candle and place it safely beside the water.

3. Visualize the Snowdrop—its gentle strength and its ability to push through the frozen earth without struggle.

4. Imagine the moon’s fire and the candle’s light charging the water with inspiration.

5. In the morning, bottle this water. Use a few drops on your pulse points whenever you feel the crackle of hopelessness or unmet grief returning, feel the flower’s essence rise and meet it. Sit with this presence to feel what it needs.

The Protective Breath Of Your Hearth — Journal Entry

Prompt: Saint Brigid is the patroness of poets, healers, and smiths. She represents the fire of transformation. As you look at the Snowdrop becoming fractal in your mind’s eye, what is the thing you are tending in your own heart-hearth?

Write a short entry about what you are protecting right now. What is the snow that is currently surrounding you, and how is your internal Leo fire helping you melt a space for yourself to breathe?

Take a final deep in-breath of the cooling green mist, and a clear exhale, blowing out the warmth of desert sage. Feel this balance protect you. When you are ready, slowly open your eyes. This sanctuary is now unapologetically yours.

The First New Moon of 2026, on January 18, falls in the sign of Capricorn. This is a profound celestial alignment for your newest EOS practice; Capricorn is the sign of the mountain, the ancient stone, and the architect of time. It represents the “Old Wise One,” making it the perfect lunar mirror for the King Clone Creosote journey. We practice bringing awareness to our discomfort, without reactivity.

What is the King Clone Creosote?

The King Clone is a circular colony of Creosote (Larrea tridentata) located in the Lucerne Valley of the Mojave Desert. While it appears to be a ring of individual bushes, it is actually a single organism that has been alive for an astonishing 11,700 years.

As the original central plant died millennia ago, it sent out genetically identical clones in a widening circle. Growing at a pace of just one millimeter per year, it has endured through ice ages and civilizations. It is a living testament to longevity, cellular memory, and the intelligence of staying rooted.

The local indigenous communities, specifically the Serrano (Takhtam) and Cahuilla (ʔívil̃uqaletem) peoples, have a deep, spiritual, and medicinal relationship with the Creosote bush, which they often call Yatub (sometimes spelled ’at’ap or yatub). The Spanish name, Gobernadora, which means “governess,” aptly describes this plant’s deep mothering role. The Tohono O’odham call Creosote Bush, Shegoi, “the Mother of All Plants”; in their creation mythology, it was the first plant placed on Earth.

To these ancestors, the Creosote was not just a plant; it was the Mother of all Medicine. They used it to treat everything from respiratory issues to chronic pain and skin infections. They recognized its immortality—observing that it survived the harshest droughts and oldest memories of the basin. They saw it as a protector that cleaned the air and the spirit, a “holy wood” that bridged the gap between the human world and the ancestral realm.

This potent Supermoon offers the frequency needed to release any burdens of the Gregorian calendar and renew our Sovereign Agency.

We’ll meditate together with the high, wild vibrations of Sacred Datura wrightii, one of my favorite roadside moon flower friends. Native to the arid corridors of the Southwestern US and Northern Mexico, Datura wrightii (Sacred Datura) is a master of the open space. It thrives in the porous, well-drained soils of Southern California, often appearing in disturbed areas as a biological response to landscape trauma—acting as a grounding, white-blooming anchor for the earth’s own nervous system.

After a deep dive into the infinite frequencies of this majestic Moon-shaped flower, a journaling exercise with prompts to integrate the somatics of tonight’s full Cancerian Wolf SuperMoon.

The Opening: Begin by finding a comfortable seat or allowing yourself to be held by the earth as you lie down. Take a deep breath at your own pace, and as you exhale, gently close your eyes. Welcome the darkness you see; this is the warm, expansive safety of our peaceful universe. Within this stillness, find a singular point of light in your mind’s eye. This is your guiding star. Bring your awareness toward it, letting it lead you away from the noise of urbanization and into the high, scrubland air of the high Angeles Forest.

I. EXPERIENCE: The Blue Ascent

Experience the cooling temperature as you hike higher into the chaparral. The scent of wild sage and sun-baked granite is beginning to soften into the damp, silver air of twilight. You are far above the city lights now.

Listen to the orchestra of the transition: the sudden, hollow hoo-hoo of a Great Horned Owl from a nearby Sycamore, and the rhythmic, croaking chorus of canyon frogs rising from the creek below. Feel the Vata wind—the dry, light breeze of January—brushing against your skin, carrying away the surface static of your day.

II. OBSERVE: The Gramophone of the Moon

Observe the hillside as the sun dips below the horizon. There, in the dimming light, the Datura wrightii, Moonflower, begins its velvet unfurling. These massive, white, funnel-shaped blossoms are opening specifically for this moon.

Look at the shape of the flower. It is a living Gramophone horn, a vintage funnel designed to catch the frequencies of the unseen. Notice the pristine whiteness, the subtle violet veins, and the way it seems to glow with its own internal light.

Observe the Truth of this plant. It does not fear the dark; it requires it to bloom. It is the word of the desert, reminding you that everything you feel—the grief, the anger, the longing—is a sacred law written in the moment.

III. SHARE: The Echo and the Rematriation

Share your grief with the funnel of the Moonflower. Bring your awareness to your Heart Chakra. Imagine your grief not as a burden, but as a vibration—a sound that needs to be heard.

The Practice:

1. The Sounding Board: Lean your consciousness into the white funnel of the Datura. Mentally speak your grief into the flower. Let it catch the thoughts that no longer serve you—the shoulds, the whys, the illusions of how things ought to be.

2. The Echo: Wait. In the silence, feel the flower act as a sounding board. It echoes back to you the raw, authentic truth of your love. It instructs your heart to listen to itself.

3. The Rematriation: As the Full Wolf Cancer SuperMoon rises over the Sycamores, imagine the Datura funnel turning downward. See any heavy thoughts emerging towards the throat of the flower, through the stem, and deep into the soil.

4. The Release: You are rematriating this energy back to the Mother. The earth knows what to do with this weight. It is being composted into the minerals of the mountain.

Somatic Affirmation: “I love whatever arises within me. I release the illusion and keep the truth. The earth hears me, and the moon holds me.”

Feel the zero-sound of the valley settle into your bones.

You are wild. You are free. You are home.

Integration Journaling: The Echoes of the Moonflower

After your meditation, find a quiet corner with a warm cup of Tulsi ( Holy Basil) tea or sit by a window where the moon is visible. Use these prompts to record what the Somatic Neuroecology of the Angeles Forest revealed to you.

1. The Gramophone’s Truth: What was the specific echo you heard from the Datura funnel? When you allowed your heart to listen to itself, what was the first word or feeling that arose?

2. Identifying the Illusion: Which thought about your grief did you realize was an illusion or a tangle that no longer serves the truth of your love?

3. The Weight of the Soil: Describe the sensation of Rematriation. How did your body feel physically when you imagined the grief moving through the stem of the flower and into the cool, dark earth?

4. The Blue Hour Shift: Did you notice a change in your nervous system as the twilight turned to night? Was there a moment where the static of urbanization felt further away?

   

   A Prayer of Moonflower Grace

   Mettā (Universal love, loving kindness practice) for the Moonflower of Venezuela

   As we sit with the “Gramophone” of our local Datura, we must also cast our awareness toward the South—to the humid, tropical soils of Venezuela.

   There, another Moonflower, the indigenous Ipomoea alba, is unfurling its large, fragrant white petals into the same Full Moon light. Unlike the grounded shrub of our desert, this Moonflower is a vine; it knows how to climb even when the structure is precarious. It knows how to find the light in the deepest canopy of the night.

   In the spirit of Somatic Neuroecology, we recognize that our nervous systems are not isolated. When the land in Venezuela is bruised by conflict and damaging energy, the collective neuroecology feels the tremor.

   A Moment of Mettā: We send a pulse of Moonflower Grace to the people and the land of Venezuela. May the scent of the Ipomoea alba act as a cooling balm for the heat of conflict. May the climbing nature of this vine remind those in the thicket of their own ancestral resilience. May the Full Moon shine with an equal, unyielding peace upon the Sycamores of the Angeles Forest and the tropical canopy of the South.

   We rematriate not only our own grief tonight, but we hold a space for the grief of the world, trusting the earth to hold us all.

If you feel uninspired, heavy, or “behind” right now, I invite you to look at the trees. In the alpine forest or the wetland woods, the trees are not reinventing themselves. They are practicing Dormancy. This is not a lack of activity; it is a high-level intelligence. They are pushing their roots deeper into the earth, moving their vital sugars toward the center, and protecting their core from the frost.

Ana Mendieta said, “I am overwhelmed by the feeling of having been cast from the womb. My art is the way I re-establish the bonds that unite me to the universe. It is a return to the maternal source.”

Winter isn’t “death”; it’s a “return to the maternal source.” We go back into the womb of the earth to wait for the Sap-Pull of spring.

Spring is not a “vibe”—it is the biological New Year. The true New Year arrives when the sap rises, the eggs hatch, and the first green shoots push through the soil. To demand that of yourself in the dead of winter is biologically silly. It creates a “neuroecological friction” that leaves us exhausted before the season of growth even begins.

If January feels “wrong” to your body, your intuition is on fire. It’s your Somatic Wisdom. You are allowed to remain in your slumber. You are allowed to conserve. You are allowed to wait for the sap to rise. This is your time to receive deep, unapologetic rest. Sending emails in this sacred time is a serious violation. Step away from the screens.

Mendieta often filled her body’s silhouette with red pigment, flowers, or fire—marking the space where she ended and the earth began. In the seemingly-dead of winter, we are going to do this with the only ephemeral material we have in abundance: The Breath.

1. Find Your Ground Go to a patch of earth that feels dormant. Maybe a frozen creek bed in the forest, or a patch of creosote in the desert. Stand still until the birds forget you are there. This is your silent soundstage.

2. Trace the Silhouette Lie down with Mama Earth… create a shape if the psychedelic demands it, making a distinct outline...or, use your peripheral vision to trace the Silueta (silhouette) of your Shadow on the ground. Feel the winter sun— low and pale —mirroring, drawing, and distorting — your form.

• Wink To The Cosmos: Notice how your shadow doesn’t care about making New Year’s resolutions. There is a relief in being a safe, silent, free shape on the ground below you.

3. The Breath-Mark (Experience & Observe) In the cold air, your breath becomes visible — a “dancing silueta.”

• Exhale a long, slow plume of air toward the center of your shadow’s chest (the Heart Chakra).

• Watch as the mist of your breath—carrying the “static” of your grief or your January capitalism- born “shoulds”—dissipates into the atmosphere.

4. The Mendieta Integration (Share) As Mendieta said, this is a “dialogue between the landscape and the body.” By watching your breath disappear into the winter air, you are affirming that you are part of the universal energy that runs from “human to spectre, from spectre to plant.” This is Rematriation. You are giving your internal atmosphere back to infinite Maternal Source. A winter offering, a frozen song, hold it with you. You’re returning to your place in the cosmos.

Winter Solstice is here. The new moon in Sagittarius today finds us as archers in the potent dark, waiting for the light. Comfortable here, we surrender to the unknown in the wild once again, mischievous hermit, Artemis’ daughter’s shadow, curious wizard, wandering root, untangling the ribbons of ourselves. Nowhere to be, nothing to do, no one to answer to, except this adventure in the wooded forest, listening between the branches, waiting for soft snow to fall. It’s winter’s edge. It’s time for an angel’s rest.

This meditation is a somatic invitation to gently uncover and untangle the knots we have overlooked in the past year. It is a space in this ending quality to heave a heavy sigh of undoing; to sit in the stillness of the new snow and remember that dormancy is not death, and to join nature in her slowed-down quiet is such a gift. Here, during the winter solstice, we remember that all in the universe is born, recedes, and rejuvenates—gathering the strength to bloom once more.

The third and final SuperMoon of 2025 makes her presence known today at 3:14 PM PST- we’ve been ready for her all year. Let’s buzz her in.

As the active beams of the Gemini SuperMoon bloom into fullness, we bow toward the illumination, becoming its humble shadow.

I love Full Moon time for its power of reflective release, allowing us to let go of what we no longer need. In the days ahead of the moon’s peak, I find myself ritually de-cluttering, re-examining patterns, and feeling my energy flow into a secret sanctuary as the hours wane into themselves.

Let’s find our stillness within the maze of the Gemini butterfly forest - and look to the stoic Mojave desert now — its strong stability is known to help uncover our calmer, introspective nature if we sit with it long enough.

In Ayurveda, during this Vata season (roughly September through late January), we often experience an excess of Air and Space elements—leading to anxiety, overthinking, and a scattered mind.

I’m here as your guide to remind you: Healing can be a simple exploration of returning to the wisdom of the 5 elements that co-exist in your mind, body, and spirit; the same elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether that are present within our greater universe.

The Somatic Practice of Experience, Observe, and Share: The Joshua Tree Oasis Anchor

The essential practice of EOS for each New and Full Moon is an act of embodied rebalancing by meeting the foundational elements within us.

For Gemini’s curious and communicative energy, showing up powerfully in the height of Autumn, we’re inviting radiant balance. Take a few moments to harness the stable, warm, and flowing qualities of Earth, Fire, and Water elements to counteract the cold, dry quickness of Vata (Air & Space) energy during today’s full moon gratitude practice.

The Intention: To surrender any cold, anxious effort, and simply receive the non-judgmental stability found within the deeper wisdom of what the ancient sages knew: We are fundamentally a mirror of the universe.

Let’s do this.

1. Experience & Ground Yourself: Find a comfortable seated position. Take a deep breath in, and on the exhale, allow the sound of your breath to travel down your spine, rooting you deeply into the heart of the Earth. Acknowledge any scattered thoughts—meeting the presence of Vata, without judgment—they are the air and space elements, energetically moving through the home of your physicality.

2. Observe & Cultivate Warmth Within: In your mind’s eye, travel to golden hour in Joshua Tree National Park. Feel the warmth of the sun-soaked sand beneath your feet—a warm, stable Earth element. Observe a massive, orange-hued granite boulder. Lean your back against this boulder and allow its deep, reliable heat (Fire element) to soak into your spine, countering Vata’s chill. Now, lift your gaze to the western horizon and draw the blazing colors of the sunset directly behind your eyes—this is your inner tejas (radiant energy, inner fire) for gratitude. You’re waiting patiently for the full moon to rise.

Find Your Desert Touchstone: You spot a small desert oasis—a pool of cool unexpected water, making a circular mirror to reflect the blazing sky, and soon, the brightest moon of the year, your guide in the darkness. Imagine dipping your toes, feeling the instant, soothing relief of the Water element, smoothing any sharp edges in your system. The canvas of the night is filled with a blue lunar spotlight, guidance on your path. Holding the image of the warm boulder warming your back in one hand, place the other hand over your heart and receive this gift. While you find your own timing of your breath, slowly:

• Inhale Deep Boulder Warmth (drawing in the heavy, stable qualities of Earth and Fire elements).

• Exhale Full Moon Breath (releasing movement, noise, and the coldness created by excess Air and Space elements in the mind).

Keep breathing at your own pace until you feel your sense of “shift.”

3. Intentionally share this commitment with yourself, by affirming the gift: Close your practice by placing the hand that held the boulder image (or the hand over your heart) onto your lower belly. You are now sharing the gift of the practice—the stillness, the stability, and the warmth—directly back into your own sovereign landscape. Repeat silently: “I hold the lunar radiance I have discovered with gratitude. I am anchored by the warmth of the Earth, and this inner work has rebalanced my ecosystem.”

Rest here for a final moment, held by the light of the late autumn moon, exhaling the breath of desert air.

You can carry this piece of earth-meets-fire treasure, your Desert Touchstone, as a feeling of safety and nourishing life force energy (Ojas) with you throughout the Full Moon cycle.

I go, willingly, into the lower deep. All my life. It opens for me.

“Don’t Panic, We’re Oceanic!” I chanted spontaneously as a rap late into the evening on the street as we hugged goodbye -to my ecstatic friends Saewon and Kwonyin’s delight one night after a day of Summer Solstice celebrations and mystical mischief at our gathering, called “Seraphim Dream”, back in 2019. We call ourselves TEAM GAIA. It became a bumper sticker after that.

Einstein wrote that the most beautiful and profound emotions are derived from our sensation of the mystical.

For me, nature has always been the most mysterious yet deeply familiar thing, making it my ultimate source of the mystical. I intentionally walk into wild, untamed territories prepared to release what is no longer serving me. My emotional body asks for this cleansing on a daily, often momentary, basis; I complete this process by entering landscapes where I am accepted, feral and whole, just as I am.

Nature has never failed to hold me.

I stop and listen to a seashell, often considered a dead or non-sentient creature, without judgment. I spark my ocean senses, and this non-human teacher reveals its lessons: Value is relative; valuable currency is of the moment. True sovereignty is found when we value only what sustains life without compromise, knowing that strong intuition builds the most peaceful homes.

The insight whispered by the seashell is absolute: Sovereignty is found when we value what keeps us alive without compromise.

Sovereignty is sometimes mistaken for independence or power, but at its S.E.L.F. (Sustainable Evolving Love Frequency) core, it is the uncompromising commitment to sustainability—both within your body's ecosystem and in the wider world. We build sustainably within our inner and outer worlds to come to our core of peace.

• Internal Sustainability (we look to Ayurvedic wisdom): In the body, this means honoring the elemental needs of your own constitution (doshas). It is the decision to prioritize the nourishing flow of the tide over the scattered air of anxiety, recognizing that any behavior (emotional, dietary, or relational) that depletes your core energy is a compromise of your sovereign state.

• External Sustainability (we decided not-to -Compromise): When we apply this ethic outwardly, we see that true value cannot be attached to transient currency or temporary gains. Sustainability means choosing practices, relationships, and systems that do no harm and ensure longevity. You cannot be sovereign if your foundation is built on exploitation, whether that’s the exploitation of your own time and energy, or the exploitation of the Earth.

When you refuse to compromise the long-term health of your inner and outer landscape, your intuition strengthens, your boundaries solidify, and you achieve a feral and unshakeable state of peace—this is the non-negotiable definition of self-sovereignty.

The Cycladic Shaman's Anchor: A Shoreline Connection

The ancient Cycladic shell necklace I took a snapshot of in the museum —likely crafted between 3200 and 2000 BCE—was worn by a person of spiritual importance, a village healer or shaman, on the islands of the Aegean Sea.

Beyond adornment, these shells served as powerful symbolic anchors. They symbolize protection, flow, and the deeply feminine spheres associated with the healing waters of creation.

When I paused in August 2021 and looked at this piece in the Athens Museum, I felt a deep resonance. It reminded me of my own lifetime of walking the shore, instinctively gathering small stones and shells to process my own monumental emotions. I’ve long worshipped shells along every coastal path I’ve found, combing away at sand and sifting through - looking for whole and in-tact shells and comparing the most beautiful to the next most stunning specimen - as if I’d been hypnotized -for hours, while my companions for the day are left to find their own enjoyment without me.

For the Cycladic healer, this necklace was a portable cosmology: a talisman for healing and an honored spirit object from a human lineage that held the wisdom of the sea's reliable and faithful rhythm - sustenance - and healing powers.

The presence of this shell work suggests the wearer's profound link to non-human teachers and the sacred belief that the ocean’s protective presence would guide them, and their beloveds - through their ultimate transformation.

My trip to Greece confirmed my intuitive childhood understanding of the healing ways of shells.

Later in my deeper Ayurvedic studies, I found that Ayurvedic doctors use seashells for an ancient medicinal practice called Śaṅkha. Conch Shells hold immense importance in Ayurveda, serving as both a spiritual talisman and a potent medicine. Revered in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, it is used in prayer and its powerful blast is thought to dispel negative energy and invoke Shiva (whose name, Śaṅkara, may derive from the word meaning "conch-blower").

In medicine, the shell is prepared through intense heat (calcination) to create a bhasma (ash). This preparation is highly valued for its ability to neutralize acidity and is frequently used to treat digestive issues. Beyond its healing properties, Hindu scripture praises the Śaṅkha as a container for holy water and a giver of fame, longevity, and prosperity. There are many more techniques that incorporate the shells as medicine.

The Intention: To surrender any anxious effort, and receive the non-judgmental compassion found within the deeper wisdom of what the ancient sages knew: We are fundamentally a mirror of the universe.

Let’s do this.

2. Observe & Flow Within: In your mind’s eye, travel to the sea’s shore towards sunset. Feel the light ocean air, slower, sweeter, and more nourishing than the dry, quick air of this fall evening. With every inhale, draw in that cooling, oceanic peace. Allow the soft mist to fall on your skin. Focus on the sound of the tides. Let your breath fall into step with that rhythm: Waves roll in; your belly fills, Waves roll out; tension releases. The water approaches not with force, but with a compassionate, rhythmic embrace.

3. Find Your Ocean Treasure: Imagine looking down onto the sand and spotting a small Agate Moonstone on the shore—shining unexpectedly with a smooth shape, beautifully see-through with milky-white translucent circular designs, and perfectly polished by the salt and sand. This stone is your internal anchor to balance you against the Air & Space elements. Holding your Moonstone in one hand, place the other hand over your heart and receive this gift. Use your breath to gently transfer the stone’s cool, stable Earth element into your inner landscape. While you find your own timing of your breath, slowly:

• Inhale Purifying Ocean Mist (drawing in the heavy, reliable qualities of compassion and adaptability - essential qualities of Earth and Water elements).

• Exhale New Moon Breath (releasing scattered thoughts and self-doubt, created by excess Air and Space elements in the mind).

• Keep breathing at your own pace until you feel your sense of “shift”.

4. Intentionally share this commitment with yourself and affirm the gift: Close your practice by placing the hand that held the Moonstone (or the hand over your heart) onto your lower belly. You are now sharing the gift of the practice—the fluidity, the weight, and the compassion—directly back into your own sovereign landscape. Repeat silently: “I hold the clarity I have discovered. My boundaries are designed by the wisdom of the Earth, and this inner work has rebalanced my ecosystem.”

Rest here for a final moment, cradled by the sound of the reliable tide, exhaling the breath of the sea salt air.

You can carry this piece of earth-meets-ocean treasure, your Moonstone, as a feeling of safety and nourishing life force energy (known as Ojas in Sanskrit) with you throughout the New Moon cycle.

A Seed Is Planted: What’s Coming to the Sovereign Landscape

After years of research, practice, and a necessary lifetime of shedding old forms, I am over the rainbow of the moon to share that the core work for the book—and its accompanying embodied practices—is finding its new home here.

This space is dedicated to exploring the EOS (Experience, Observe, Share) Practice —my non-intellectual framework for healing trauma, setting sovereign boundaries, and finding clarity using the wisdom of nature. We are going to move beyond the surface and dive into the Ayurvedic cycles, the science of budburst, and the integrity of the sovereign edge.

A Queer multi-hyphenate poet, Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor, and plant nerd dedicated to translating the complex science of emotional healing into the accessible wisdom of the natural world. Drawing on over a decade of experience as a creative director, designer, & stylist in the landscape, fashion & film industries, and her cross-training in Ayurveda, horticulture, Shamanic earth-centered practices, Reiki, and Yoga, Emily created the EOS (Experience, Observe, Share) Practice—a non-intellectual, somatic framework for self-sovereignty.

Rooted in the ancestral Coast Salish land of her childhood, her work emphasizes clarity, sobriety, and finding your S.E.L.F.
